NICE! WOULD LOVE MORE ETHNIC HAIR TEXTURE SOME COLOR AND MORE STYLES ON MEDIUM TO LONG. THANK YOU I ENJOY IT VERY MUCH.
Thobeka says
Give Ms. Keeli a break!
I think what's more important than the style looking "blah" or "unfinished" is the satisfaction of the client. Obviously the client is a little bit older, she likes this particular cut, and comes to Ms. Keeli because she likes the service.
Furthermore, while there certainly wasn't much explanation in this video, I think there was too much going on- from prep to clippers to scissors to styling etc- to explain it all in detail in just one video. Not to mention we don't know how much dialogue was edited out.
It seems to me that this was a kind of overview or preview of what could be a great series of vids that go much further into detail about cutting and styling ethnic hair. Snip snip!

Love The Video Scissorboy, would like to see more stylist come forward with ethnic hairstyles, and color. Thanks the wonderful video's, and the wonderful work you do.
CyntDynt says
Thanx for the black video. I wish I had these videos when I was in hair school. I taught myself to use marcels with an oven. I tell ya, these videos are very inspiring.
Brittany Hustla says
I love marcels. I hope to see cut and styles on medium to long ethnic hair too.
Kimberly says
I showed this video to my cosmetology students and they thought Amy E. was very uneducated with cosmetology field. They/we agreed with CJ and some of the other comments that the "cooking oil" comment was offensive and a very idiotic thing to say. Apparently, Amy does not have any cosmetology education and should stay out of the way and not be so consumed with looking into the camera.
Carmen says
Agree, would love more ethnic hair texture cuts. Like some demos on hair with bigger natural curls. Love the videos ScissorBoy!!
CJ says
OMG! Asking if she was using cooking oil was dumb and really showed that she might want to get a little more info on the subject!
nicretel says
this was a nice beginning to introducing african american stylist,so thank you. Now expand on it and i will definitely keep watching.Love your site. It really gives stylist a great opportunity to continue their education.
Natural Queen says
Loved this video would love to see more videos on how to cut ethnic hair from long to this length hair
catcitygirl says
cooking oil, that wasn't the most intelligent thing to say
Celeb Stylist says
Please include more descriptive ethnic hair styling videos, showcasing different hair textures. It is very important for stylists to be versatile in their craft in order to widen their client base. I'm so glad that I've come across Scissor Boy website, I've been watching all day. Try to head out to states like D.C., Chicago and Atlanta..Even Toronto, Ontario where there are large ethnic communities. I'm sure there are plenty of stylists, catering to ethnic hair, who would be willing to do perform a demo for the website. Its too bad that out of all the videos on the site, there is only one on ethnic hair, that unfortunately (due to the stylists lack of description) fell short. Keep 'em comin Scissor Boy! ;)
steven says
i was getting into this video then it got boring.........not descriptive enough?
New Stylist says
O K. Did She really want to share anything with other stylist. I thought the point was to help other stylist improve on their skills. She use none decriptive term when refering to her tools. She didn't identify the products she used. So I guess its Ok to tell your clients to use "sprits" and "oil". Why, What benefit do your products offer. You should seriously consider deleting this video or redoing it.
Ali says
Soo not a mullet? Thats almost offensive! Amy drives me a little crazy, but I love the videos, especially learning on ethnic hair !
Kizzy says
This video was very disappointing. I am a african american hair stylist and I learned this this in high school cosmetology. I would like to see more ethnic videos but way more detailed.
Kimberly says
Video was ok, but I would like to see something a little more dramatic and detailed. The stylist did a good job on her efforts.
dee says
Enter your comments... love the videos~
CJ: says
I love variety of techniques, applications or executions! I for one am your classic "information junkie." However, I was very disappointed in this particular video. I found it to have come up short in so many areas. The stylist had absolutely no sense of explanation for what she was doing nor did she even execute the cut proper manner(sectioning, sub-sectioning). It looked as if a lot of hair over here was picked up and cut, and a lot of hair from over there was picked up and cut...and we're not even sure at what angle. ::sigh:: It was a bummer for me.
says
Amy is always in the way. And is more concerned with looking at herself in the camera than trying to facilitate.
candace says
I am a ethnic cosmetology student and these videos are great.i learn so much.i agree with susan and think there should be more natural styles on her as well.the only i couldnt believe was that she charges 40 for makeup.the makekup was not that great.
Susan says
did not like too much, not very interesting, did not show enough. for someone that does ethnic hair all the time, it could have been better. why not try doing technique for natural hair and career looks for ethnic clients.
DannyGirl says
I love the video Scissorboy and I agree with using marcel irons. I believe Im the only one in my shop that uses them I feel the same as the stylist why use an instrument that my client can use at home to create the style. Ive been criticized for my soft styling technique but again I want my clients hair to be healthy and stay versatile. Spritzing it or freezing it is not always the answer! Im glad to see that theyre still cosmetologists that hold on to the basics!! THANX
heather says
this was very informative maybe we could see some more on products for ethnic hair and how and when to use them
Geneva says
I love ethnic videos and me being black this video was great, I do agree it should have a little more details about the techniques she used but it was a lovely hairstyle and for the others this is the mullet for the black community.................lol
says
would love to see more marcel iron techniques
Angie says
This video was good but not as verbal or communicated well. Amy had to ask her what she was doing instead of the stylist being more free and open to communicate. It just seem like she was in her comfort zone and not really sure or knowing how to explore and express what she was doing. I give her credit for her efforts. I didn't feel no passion or vibe for what she was doing. I felt like she rushed through the entire service to get Amy out of the way and her client. WOW!
treyanne says
i think it was great. and people need to get throught there head that this is for blac ppl. so of course it doesnt look like a mullet. in the african american world it looks awesome.
newbie says
I would like to know where can I purchase this particular round/flat marcel iron that keeli uses for the styling?
says
I would like to say thank you for these awesome videos!! And would like to ask if you could go to some braid and weave salons. I love the ethnic videos as well, would like to see more.
Brenda says
take this as constructive criticism, not an insult... i got absolutely NOTHING out of this video. pretty much a waste of time. absolutely no detail in the shoot... no real tips about haircutting, styling or the makeup. Two thumbs down pretty much.
Dennis says
Very interesting, but I don't agree with her statement that she uses a special tool that they most likely would not have so that they would have to come back to her. I believe you should make it so that an individual can get close to styling their own hair at home, otherwise their style will probably look horrible for weeks prior to coming to see you again. As a client I would resent this and find someone else who is more client friendly.
says
Great video! Loved the make up application at the end. Thank you Scissorboy!

thats for sure not a mullet.... it is a wonderful tapered haircut tho.
