great advice by mohi on standing positions, ive never heard or seen anybody explaining how to stand at these angles to cut hair but im sure it makes a huge difference and for once i actually thought amy was cute when she braided his hair...it was funny
Farasha says
I love the way mogi teaches... super cool video!! tnx
Mary says
Amy needs to bug off! She distracts the stylist way too much. She is always flirting with the camera. We come here to seriously learn, and she is annoying to say the least! Please do something about her!
VICTORIA says
THANKS!!! GREAT VIDEO.
Jake says

I think ur funny amy,, u bring a little fun to the show :)
Annieoceanie says
reviewing the video-great one! But Amy is insufferable! If only she would just shut up and listen! Understand your role as a host. this is education. I'm going to order the DVD @wwwmogihair.com
D says
Master Mogi San rocks! Training under him would be an honor, I'm sure.

I love the educational videos on Scissor Boy but there is one thing I CANNOT stand! And that is AMY E, she is unprofessional, attention seeking & does not bring anything positive to the videos that are meant to provide qualified stylists with inspiration & help. I hope that the comments are read by the producers of this site and take into account the number of stylists that leave negative feedback regarding the host (Amy E), I'm sorry to say she is the only thing that lets this site down. But other than that, the education in the videos are great and I'm constantly using the different techniques in the salon.

..he reminds me of my tai kwon do teacher. I think Amy E.and Mogi had a great raport. Some of these comments do not give this man the respect he deserves. thanks for this video,I've learned some....
Marci says
Wow!I can't believe how much he reminds me of my Tai Kwon Do teacher. Love the culture and how they teach. The hair came out so much better than it was. After reading some pryor comments I can't believe how critical some people are of everything. I thought he and Amy had nice repore andto the guy who has trouble accessing video's go to film strip between previous and next, you'll get a menu of cuts, color ect.Thank you for this wonderful site!!!!!!!!

Amy E. Please learn to humble yourself in the presence of professionals. Mogi may not speak English fluently, but he can still converse in English. If you're going to reiterate what he is saying so that viewers and the model can understand, do it in a manner that doesn't come across as belittling, because that is the impression I got from you at 1:20. Maybe the model had a confused look on her face that we obviously could not see, but you Amy, looked like you couldn't wait for Mogi to finish speaking so you could jump in and "translate". The look that Mogi shot you, after your "translation" just proved my point. The way you went about it was not professional. Don't forget that you have an accent as well and some people may not be able to understand you either .Please learn how to be a bit more HUMBLE, RESPECTFUL, PROFESSIONAL in front of professionals and EMPATHETIC. Your lack of professionalism shows in more than one video and frankly, its getting annoying..

the lady looks like shes gunna cry!

I love this style of cutting. Mogi says practice practice practice. I don't get the chance to do so much practice. should I just use mannequins?

Geneva says
great video but I wish I can get a close-up on his technique
Zod says
I do the same haircut but on the top I redirect the hair back. Mogi does it to the front. Cool, I will try that and see the difference.
Nereyda Castelo says
Frankly , that's how the cut my hair the last time
but with the diference on the understanding of the position, normally in order to have a better perspective, they make you see the person on a diferent side, the other way , is to make a parallel connection type, in order to check the lenght, as far as i understood, now it makes more sense and more clearer, why you have to take the guide in order to make the haircut similar....thanks, please post videos, with haircoloring, since these vids, are the ones, that i need to understand, due to the extension....of the theme.....thank you.....
Angie says
I enjoyed the videos this is a very creative an unique way for stylist to learn and see other stylist perform behind the chair. This is very innovating I Love It! Keep up the good work and keep promoting our industry.

Really liked this video i learned alot from it...only suggestion would be that you guys would take a side view with the camera when he texturized the "widow's peak" area...couldn't really see what he was doing =/

that's genious! thanks a bunch mogi san, you are great. i once lived in japan for 10 years and have hair done by dozens of japanese hair salon. one thing i missed and enjoyed so much everytime i get my hair done in japan is the massage they will give you when getting a haircut. massage on the scalp, shoulder and upper back..aahhhhh... it felt sooo gooood. it awakens your stiff muscles, makes your blood cells flow back to normal. i never thought then that i am going to be a hair stylist thoug. wow.
hey mogi san i hope i can get in touch with you on how to be a hair stylist like japanese style. "sugoku subarashii desu. jousu desu ne"

I have been a stylist for 19 years and my mother was a stylsit. I am now a supervisor over 13 salons. I continue learning from every body I know. Please encourage all stylist to learn from everyone and even talk to older stylist and learn their terms, this will help you to understand all levels of your clients when you give a consultation. I loved this video and will try it out next time I get some one in that wants to keep their length.

DD says
Same thing, "love you too Amy", but you are a bit of a distraction while talking and getting "all up in it" when the stylist are trying to work and talk. I know you are just trying to reinterate what they are saying, but it's a little much.

Nice Hair cut. Master Mogi is really master.
Discovered about Amy E. She is Irish. That's nice.

I absolutely adore your videos and the education they provide, there is nothing I love more than hair and all of it's facets. I love learning something new each time I watch a new vid and I honestly can't thank you enough for the continuing education you're providing to those of us that are in love with and passionate about our craft.
Having said all of those great things about your amazing website, I must say, I can barely tolerate the host. It's taken me several videos to actually say something, but she gets worse with each one. She's not funny and her attempt at being so permeates obnoxious behavior throughout the entire video. Nothing personal against her, I'm sure in real life she's awesome, but for this particular role, she just isn't right for the job.
Regardless of who hosts it though, I won't stop watching the vids any time soon. I just wanted to voice my opinion, and I thank you for the opportunity to do so. I also would like to thank you again for the great knowledge you are sharing with us, your effort and hard work shows me that in this industry, the possibilities truly are endless.
Thanks again and take care!

I am a trained hairdresser of 12 years. since leaving last salon and now being a mum i cannot find any hairdresser in portsmouth england that understands how to overdirect when doing a haircut. I was taught this skill by my former employer. If you have for example a right side parting you must bring layers fom left side over to right side to match the length. Every hairdresser i speak to about this does not understand and just cuts the left side straight up to a 90 degree angle which leaves a short layer on top of your head that does match with the other side. Think of symetry the left side has further to go.The head is round and the left side will fall exactly the same length as the right side if you pull layers right over to the other side of the head. Also cutting hair upside down is brilliant for checking in layers.
