I liked this video but it made me dizzy! The camera work could have been much better! Star shape color blocking is huge righ now I noticed. I did a class on a star shape with Stephanie Kocielski last month. =)

The creme color we used was Framesi 221 which will lift through previously colored hair. I find this product to be a very important tool in my "bag of color tricks" because sometimes you don't want to bleach and tone. Fragile hair, time constraints or multiple color procedures going on simultaneously may make you decide to try a product like this. Framesi has a very rich, thick vegetable oil base, so it stays put and it's really conditioning. Thanks everybody for watching and for your feedback. Love ya!!!!

I really like the vertical foiling technique to reduce blocking. I'm definitely going to try that! And I think the color and cut really suited the girl. Awesome video!

I loved the color and also the cut. It was one of the best videos I have seen at scissors boy. He is very experienced. I just would like to ask the show to focus a little bit more in the hair so we can properly see what is being done cause lots of times it wasn't possible. Thank you Ju

This is really old stuff. How old is still video? I learnt this about 8 years ago. It's now almost 2010.

Love the cut and color? Just a quick question; what make were the second texturizing shear and was this the shear James used on the crown?
SCISSORBOY NOTE: The second texturizers James uses are the Toshiba 14 ToothHooked Shears - http://scissorboy.com/store/?item=14tooth_thinning_shear_hooked
Yes, those are the shears James uses on the crown

What format are these vids in? Flash-based? I have a Blackberry Storm and they simply refuse to play on it.
LOVING the videos, as always, I would just like to be able to view them at work on my Storm. The iPod Touch isn't an option as there's no internet, or wifi access at work.

wooooooow I was just updating my realplayer and came across the new video search and typed in haircuts and there it was the scissorboy website and I cant tell you how happy I am about this site. the illustration the explanations the whole thing just fantastic. all the tips thank you scissorboy

It looks a little disconnected, that star pattern, sitting so far back on the crown. It would've been nice to see it closer to the apex, letting the whispy ends fall into the fringe a little more. But very inspiring. Kudos, James!
Becky says
Enjoyed watching James' techniques. Would love to know what brands of color he uses to lift previosly tinted hair.
(NOTE from James "It was Framesi 221 lemon tea with 30 volume on both. The base was Redken seq 3G.")
Dale Clark says
this vid was the best most commercially usable one so far. thank you to cutting edge and your presenter.

Nice! My style of cutting hair. I like the coloring placement too. Not too over done, but still give a statement to the client's personality.
